President Goodluck Jonathan has renamed University of Lagos (UNILAG) after the late Chief M.K.O Abiola. The former University of Lagos is now to be known and called Moshood Abiola University, Lagos (MAUL). The Nigerian president announced the decision in his Democracy Day broadcast on Tuesday morning, 29th May, 2012.
According to Mr. President:
After very careful consideration, and in honour of Chief M.K.O. Abiola’s accomplishments and heroism, on this Democracy Day, the University of Lagos, is renamed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Moshood Abiola University, Lagos. The Federal Government will also establish an Institute of Democratic Studies and Governance in the University.
Is that his(Goodluck) priority now,he shld face Boko Haram issue now. The name MAUL does not make sense it does not sound like the famous UNILAG,so he should please reverse that statement
wat does dat,is he not aware of d polytechnic,situated @ ogun state,named after d man.although M.K.O is a genius and worth it bt,can he be compared 2 d like of MURITALA,SHAGARI nd many odas? Yoruba adege said this thing belong to us diference from belonging to me, unilag belong to federal govt and he has power to do anything he feel with it. He cant do such thing to lasu or laspotech why becouse it belong to the state govt. My advice to everyone calm down and accept there destiny.
Am appealing to mr prerident of nigeria to stop the phcn tarif increas, there is know good reason to increase the tarif since we do not have stable light. Lets have stable before you think of such, the increament means govt want to collect the repair money that have not yet spent from we poor masses. Mr president with strength peace and love that you promise the nation was not follow why, abacha govt it still tbe best govt with reason.
renaming the institution is not the best way to acknologe the great Hero,let nigeria play on how to establish New ones, not renaming old ones for the best interest of the Education Institution.
